[ Newfoundland Dog figurine ]

Image courtesy of the Victoria and Albert Museum

A lead-glazed earthenware figure of a brown-and-white Newfoundland guarding a child. Dated approximately 18335, from the Staffordshire region of England. Artist(s) unknown.

Note the snake beneath the Newfoundland, surely a tip of the hat to an earlier Newfoundland statue, Bashaw, also discussed here at The Cultured Newf.
