Marquetry Panels of a Water Dog

These two marquetry panels were offered for auction at Bonhams in October 2023. Neither the artist nor the date of creation were identified in the lot listing, though since the auction took place in Edinburgh it may well be the artist was Scottish.
While the title of these works — I am assuming the title was assigned by the auction house simply as a matter of convenience — does not specifically identify the dogs as Newfoundlands, they sure like that's exactly what they are supposed to be.
